About Ao Ran
Ao Ran is currently working as a research
associate and concurrently doing his PhD in applied linguistics at the National
Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological
University, Singapore. He has taught English and Chinese languages extensively
in China and Singapore. His current work as a research associate involves
annotating and analyzing Singaporean primary and secondary classroom discourse
for the Singapore Corpus of Research in Education (SCoRE)
project, and conducting corpus-based analysis of Singapore Colloquial English
(SCE). He has published articles on English phonetics, teaching of English
pronunciation and listening, using songs in the ELT classroom. His research
interests include English phonetics, world Englishes,
sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, language teacher education, and
curriculum and materials development for language teaching.
