About Peter
Peter's office in the English Department in NUS is next door to Huang Hoon's and is therefore naturally drawn towards SAAL. He obtained his BA(Hons) from the University of Malaya and his PhD from the University of Edinburgh and is senior lecturer in the English Department where he teaches the history of English, discourse and stylistics. He is fascinated with the phenomenon of the non-Anglo Englishes (particularly in Singapore and Malaysia) and their value in these cultures (in the form of literary texts, personal naming conventions and computer-mediated talk). Peter wishes to see SAAL draw in and energise a range of members with different interests. He is the SAAL representative for members in the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences in NUS.
