About Peter
Peter K. W. Tan is senior lecturer in the
Department of English Language and Literature, National University of Singapore
and became a SAAL member pretty soon after arriving in Singapore upon
completing his PhD in the Department of Applied Linguistics, University of
Edinburgh in 1989. He was initially more focussed on research on dramatic
language and literary stylistics, but has since moved on to explore the
development of English, in particular the hybridity
of the non-Anglo Englishes of South-east Asia;
computer-mediated communication and naming (posh word: onomastics).
He has various journal articles, book chapters and a book on these. Apart from
these, he enjoys swimming, gardening, Scottish country dancing, singing and
playing instruments with the music group in church, and tussling with his
children.
