About Ruanni

Dr T. Ruanni F. Tupas is Lecturer and Division Head for Research and Publications at the Centre for English Language Communication, NUS. He is the chief editor of CELC's refereed journal, 'Reflections on English Language Teaching', author of a textbook 'Second Language Teaching' (University of the Philippines Open University Press), editor of '(Re)making society: Politics of language, discourse and identity in the Philippines' (University of the Philippines), and chief editor of 'Current perspectives on pedagogical grammar' (SAAL). His areas of research are in sociolinguistics and language teaching, language policy, and literacy and social development. His papers have appeared in several journals, including International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, Critical Inquiry in Language Studies, World Englishes, Philippine Studies and Language Problems & Language Planning. He has also been invited to review manuscripts for many international journals, including Modern Language Journal, Language Policy, The Asia-Pacific Education Researcher and Southeast Asian Studies. He is currently researching on a variety topics, including invited papers on language teaching research in Singapore (Cambridge University Press), English language education in Singapore (Multilingual Matters) and pedagogical norms (Routledge). Dr Tupas is also the current Vice-President of the Singapore Tertiary English Teachers' Society (STETS).
