About Ruanni
T. Ruanni F. TUPAS is
Senior Lecturer at the Centre for English Language Communication, National
University of Singapore. He was the 2009 Andrew Gonzalez Distinguished
Professorial Chair Holder in Linguistics and Language Education awarded by
the Linguistic Society of the Philippines which recently has also accorded him
honorary status for his contributions to linguistic studies in the country. Ruanni believes that research should not be confined within
the walls of the academe but, instead, must influence social policy making and
community development. Thus, he frequently travels within the Southeast Asian
region as a Project Director (with KC Lee) of a
S$485,000 localization project in ELT curriculum development funded by Temasek Foundation Singapore. As Press Relations Officer of
the Linguistic Society of the Philippines, he is also engaged in the promotion
of empirically-driven research on the role of multilingual education in
economic, social and peace development in the country.
